donna wilson at YSP

Via facebook and Donna Wilson we found about YSP. Yorkshire Sculpture Park founded at 1977 is the UK’s leading outdoor art gallery with 500 acres of beautiful historic parkland and five indoor galleries. For the dutch folks a kind of Kröller-Muller.

YSP: "Over a week now textile designer Donna Wilson brings her knitted trees, characters and curiosities to YSP Ahead of the show, which opens on 19 November, Donna's sent us some sneak peeks from her London studio".

We had to share the pictures because we love Donna and we get the opportunity to see her working process. Really handmade in the UK! Can't wait for thr final results.

Paper Tiles

I've forgotten the work of Louise Body for a while, a few years ago her wallpapers were everywhere, specially the garden birds. I'm not a romantic type, the style just don't feets me so it didn't made my heart beat, but today I found via Mocca and me that Louise have a new collection of wallpapers, inspired by old victorian wall tiles that she uses as patchwork... so beautiful! It remembers me the portuguese tiles you can find everywhere at my Lisboa.

Here a photostream from Lisboa's real tiles... made by Rosa Pomar

photoshoot

P1050822_klein

A while ago the talented Jeltje Janmaat asked me if I wanted a photoshoot of my home. Seen her portfolio I simply couldn't say no. It was now published in the dutch magazine Flair. I can't feature the 'real' pictures due to copyright, but for the portugese friends, in August you can see my all home at the magazine Ideas (Casa Claudia), a 8 to 10 page spread with many more pictures. Stay tuned! Meanwhile here the pdf from the Flair issue.

Pino

Pino is as I learned the Finnish word for 'pile' or 'stack' and also the name of this stunning store in Helsinki, Finland. The retail design and branding was hold by Bond Creative Agency. I love how they display their products... in piles. Their product range is very diverse, they sell home wares and accessories, stationary, tea, you name it! Pure eye candy!

stadshem

I love to see how other people's house is and one of the things that I most love in the Netherlands are the giant windows that allow us, specially in wintery dark days to take a pic. Real peoples homes that's the thing. The Swedish think the same too and brought it to another level and how clever! I just found a real-state agency website, stadshem,  that not only is well designed but that presents all the available house's with fantastic pictures. I get lost there for hours... they even show the neighborhood and interior pictures of hip cafes and shops in the nearbys... Wauw... the Swedish really rock!

just 'gewoon'

'Gewoon' a dutch word that means normal, plain, ordinary, simple, everyday...

I think Gewoon is the first dutch brand I bought. When my first baby came I had to have those hang-bags that I saw pupping everywhere at magazines. You don't see the impact anymore, but nine years ago there was no blog world (well not for me yet) or social media, these were so original and different from everything I've had seen, with bright colors and made in a brand new material: felt.

Loes Wagemans and Ellis Rowold are the brains behind this huge success and I was happily surprised when Loes came to visit my small shop with a magic suitcase. Do you know Sport Billy? Well... she managed to show me almost the entire collection out that case in all colors materials and shapes... I was impressed! The hang-bags still decorate (now) my daughters room and I don't get tired of them. I also have a cushion in perfect shape and color. Gewoon goes for quality and so do I! So I'm proud to start a small Gewoon collection here at Gosto.

What do you have to do? We're working with different media, but we decided to use the blog to gather all the participants. You just have to mention this action at your blog, facebook or twitter. Leave us the link and you're all done! We'll appreciate if you like our facebook page or follow us at twitter. shops i love: Mjölk, Toronto, Canada

I found via via (sorry I lost the link) this amazing shop in Toronto. Mjölk. Mjölk is runned by a young couple (Juli & John) with a passion for Scandinavian design and Japanese craftsmanship. Mjölk is also a gallery space for young emerging designers. The design of the shop and the objects that they carry are incredible.

They recently got married and decided to go on honeymoon to.... Japan (I think they did Scandinavia the previous year) to visit all the artisans and ateliers that they represent and find new objects and furniture. They treat us with gorgeous images of restaurants, shops and ateliers in a real cold and wintery Japan via their blog. I love their style so very much... when Scandinavian meets Japan is happening in Toronto. True inspiration!
